A unique family learning adventure awaits you! This fresh-air experience will awaken your senses as you discover the fascinating world of agriculture.

Canada's unique agricultural heritage and future is featured at the Museum. Explore the sights and sounds of farm life through animals, exhibitions, treasures from the collection, hands-on demonstrations, and delicious foods. The Museum is located on the Central Experimental Farm, a 425-hectare crop research station and National Historic Site.

The Museum also offers birthday parties, summer day camps, school programs, facility rentals and a membership program.

Visit the animal barns and explore the captivating exhibitions

See renewable energy in action in the Museum’s newest exhibition Energy Park: Nature at Work, try to spot the queen bee in the live observation hive in Taking Care of Beeness, and explore Tractors, where you can even climb inside a farmer’s “office in the field.”

Parents, teachers, community groups—download free activity kits, or visit the Museum’s two online exhibitions, Bees: A Honey of an Idea and Food for Health.

Barnyard Break: March 3 to 18

Launch the spring season and discover a great winter crop — maple syrup!

Easter: April 6 to 9

Celebrate spring with young rabbits, newborn lambs, and newly-hatched chicks.

Sheep Shearing Festival: May 19 to 21

See sheep shearing demonstrations, Border Collie dogs at work, spinning, weaving, and felt making.

Baskets with Panache!: June 13

Contribute at this fundraising event featuring the lively setting of a traditional country fair with some unique twists. Tickets 613-991-6271

Canada Day Weekend: June 30 to July 2

Celebrate with the Canadian horse demonstrations, and learn about this heritage breed. Free admission on July 1.

Daily in July and August

Participate in activities all summer long, from donkey care to bread making to afternoon milking and ice cream making!

Ice Cream Festival - August 11, 2012

Do you like ice cream? Visit the Canada Agriculture Museum on Saturday, August 11, and learn about the journey from cow to cone. Practice your milking technique on the Museum’s wooden cow and get the scoop on how dairying technology now includes milking machines, and even robotic milkers.

Cider Making and Tasting event - September 27th at 7:00 p.m., $35 per person

Join expert cider maker Greg Graham from Coronation Hall Cider Mills for an evening of making and tasting apple cider.
Reservations required at 613-991-3053. Space is limited to 25 people.

Thanksgiving Weekend: October 6 to 8

At this time of year, many Canadian farms are harvesting the food crops that will sustain us throughout the year. More and more, these same farms are also producing energy from sources such as the sun, wind, or crops. Come to the Canada Agriculture Museum this Thanksgiving weekend and explore how energy is harvested. Participate in special demonstrations and activities, and make a unique craft! See renewable energy in action at the Museum’s newest exhibition, Energy Park: Nature at Work.

National Science and Technology Week: October 12 to 21

National Science and Technology Week at the Canada Agriculture Museum means unique demonstrations on-site, highlighting the uses of science and technology in agriculture.

A Barnyard Halloween: October 27 and 28

The Canada Agriculture Museum presents its annual Barnyard Halloween Party! The whole family can enjoy a trick-or-treat scavenger hunt through the barns, fun games, and a costume parade around the Museum grounds. Make caramel apples and pumpkin and create your own Halloween craft to take home with you ($).

NEW! Printmaking Holiday Craft: November 17 – 18

Using ink, paper and a roller, make a printed card of a winter farm scene for your family and friends.

A Barnyard Bazaar : December 1st, 2012

Visit the Canada Agriculture Museum on Saturday, December 1st for a uniquely barnyard bazaar! Hand-crafted items and local food products will be on sale as you visit the animal barns. Admission to the Museum is by donation December 1 – February 28.

Third annual Food Drive : December 1 – 31

Help us meet our goal by bringing your non-perishable food items to the lobby of the Small Animal Barn.

Cold Weather Changes: December 1, 2012 – February 28, 2013

Barns remain open; exhibitions close; daily demonstrations end; admission by donation. Please note that the barns will be closed on Christmas Day, December 25, 2012.
