25th Anniversary Celebration of the Canada Agriculture Museum
OTTAWA, October 3, 2008 For immediate release
Residents of Ottawa and area, many of whom grew up visiting the animals at the Canada Agriculture Museum, are invited to visit the Museum Thanksgiving Weekend, October 11-13, for birthday fun as the Museum celebrates its 25th anniversary. Visitors are encouraged to visit the ‘farm in the city’ with parents, children, and friends for a MOOving Experience! Family activities include making and tasting ice cream and apple cider, grooming a calf, meeting the sheep and goats, making crafts, and many more. Also, birthday cake will be served on Sunday, October 12, 2008 at 12 noon.
The following are some of the activities, displays and demonstrations that will be featured at the Museum during the Thanksgiving and 25th Anniversary Weekend:
Birthday Cake (Sunday only)
Visitors can enjoy a 25th anniversary birthday cake or cupcakes at 12 noon with the Museum’s Director, on Sunday, October 12 (while quantities last).
Apple Cider Making and Tasting (10:00, 11:00, 1:00, and 2:00)
What happens to all of the not so perfect apples? They are ground and pressed into cider! Visitors will love this demonstration because not only will they get to help operate the cider press, but a delicious sample of fresh cider waits for them at the end (pasteurized cider will be served).
Craft (ongoing) Visitors can join the friendly interpreters in the classroom and make a cow puppet and then put on a play in the snack area.
Puppet Theatre Children of all ages can come and act out their favourite scenes on the farm with our new puppet theatre!
